Day 1   -So I've just picked up my luggage from the baggage claim at the Salt lake city international airport, where its nice and hot.   Erin Bates(AMA Speed channel Broadcaster) has just arrived and picked me up in her sweet sweet Benzo,  alongside was her husband Andy Bell(VP of promotions OGIO) and  Jeff  Williams (Brand Manager OGIO Canada).  I am told to change my clothes and sharpen up as we are going out to dine with H (VP of sales OGIO Global).  H lives up in salt lake city in this huge house made of gorgeous African dark wood and Etc...........nuff said, H's house is sweet, dinner was awesome, thanks H.  Back to Erin and Andy's for last call and some well needid guitar hero.

    Motocross - Andy Bell's garage -

    Motocross - Andy Bell's garage -

Day 2   -Wake up all fresh, Jeff and I chill out to some Tim Horton's coffee(imported through Erin's parents) watch the entire Lites class East series on Tivo, and play a little more guitar hero. Andy comes back from the office for lunch, trims the lawn and leaves for a workout.  Jeff and I take Andy's Supermoto bikes  for a rip.     Later in after noon as Andy and Jeff were in meetings with the Bob's,  Fish and I took off to (Miller Motorsports complex) where Drake McElroy and his buddy( who rips) were killing it on their Supermoto's.  This Supermoto track was long and had two different  dirt moto sections on both the front and the back portion of the track.  Drake's Bike was sick.
The Miller motorsports complex also offers a world class GP track, shifter cart track aswell as supermoto track.  Back to Andy's for multiple last calls

Motocross - Pro cart track at miller motorplex in Utah -

    Motocross - Sweet ride -

    Motocross - McElroy -

Day 3   -Wake up earlier,   Rock out to free bird (Guitar hero), feel great, enjoy some Timm's again.    Spend the next hour trying to jump start Cam McQueen's Supermoto bike, only to finally realize the key wasn't all the way on, idiots......   Head over to OGIO where Cam has the Big Ogio motor home ready to roll.   Cam, Andy, Jeff, Fish and I hop on bus and rock out hard all the way to Pirates cove in Boulder Nevada just outside Las Vegas.  This bus kicks ass.

    Motocross - Guitar hero -

    Motocross - Camper -

Day 4 and 5  -Pirates Cove,  I'm not even sure  what to say about this place.   Basically its the biggest , coolest house ever built.    We spent the next two days swimming, and water sliding are way around the house witch was basically a pirates ship and cove.  there were 2 main pools, The upper one was about 98* and had a 12 foot TV screen to lay back and watch all the play-off games that were happening.   Beside the upper pool was the jacuzzi that looked out over the entire dessert.     Below the upper pool's was the entrance to the water slide witch meandered down around some cactus's and trough the pirates ship out past the lounge zone and finally down and around the 900* corner and into the pool below.  Down in the pool below were lots of people, Jamal Anderson(NFL MVP Atlanta Falcons), Ronnie Renner(the man),  David Pingree(the man) not to mention a bunch of hottie's and loud kids jumping from the tower into the pools below.  If the slides and jumping wasn't enough to entertain you, there was alway the Gym and or the indoor air conditioned squash,racket-ball, basketball court.    The fun was wet and sunny and lasted long into  the evening.

Day 6  - Well Finally its Moto day and the pits at Sam Boyd stadium are bumpin.   Every factory trailer is full of gorgeous one off bikes with special colors and gear just for this race.   There are kids grabbing free gear and girls strutting there stuff, just a lot of attention every where.   Over at the Ogio Big bus and booth things were heating up because Ronnie Renner and Jeff Williams are putting on a rock show a la Guitar Hero, while every body else listens as all the bikes start to fire up as the main show nears.

    Motocross - Guitar Hero -

THE RACE-   This race kicks ass, why, because of thunder alley.    This years start was  sick, the riders started outside the stadium and then had a 200 foot straight into a long flat dirt track corner and then back into a 300 foot straight before actually getting to the first corner of the supercross track.    After the start was a very hard technical track that funneled the riders back out of the stadium through THUNDER ALLEY, witch was a long long fast left hander that was very slick and carried the riders around some trees and back into the stadium and supercross track.   Ass you may have seen on speed channel, both Ryan Villapoto(West supercross champ) and Ben Townley(East supercross champ) bikes broke down after some carnage in the first corner of the lites main event, making for an easy victory for Ryan Dungey.  In the big boy class, ass usual, James Stewart rode away with the moto and the victory by a landslide.   Well another year of supercross has gone buy and I think it's getting better every time I see it.....        Time to party and get back home where my bike is waiting for me.        Nationals start soon, see ya there....

Colonies.com Network Wide News: New Pollution
    By: Colonies.com

Many young riders today aren’t simply imitating their heroes, they’re often the ones evolving their sport the most – leaving the established pros to catch up or pack up.  These kids are what New Pollution is all about.

Each half-hour episode will feature 3 of the best young athletes from across the core action sports realm: surf, snow, skate, bmx, fmx, and wake.  Since the age range of our riders is 16 and under, they might not always be old enough to drive a car, but they can probably air over one.

Hosted by professional surfer Matt Beacham, New Pollution will bring viewers into the world of these amazing athletes.  Do they go to school like most kids, or are they home-schooled?  How did they get so good at such a young age?  How do they (and their parents) deal with broken bones?  With contests 8 hours away?  With traveling around the country, and sometimes the world, before their voice cracks?  What music do they listen to?  What movies do the like?  What websites do they visit everyday?  Viewers will find out as we give them a slice of life from these young riders’ lives… not to mention action footage that will blow more than a few minds.

New Pollution begins airing December 31st, with a new episode coming each Sunday for 13 weeks.

    Giraffe Entourage: Surfing Tofino
    By: Rodney

So I went surfing for the first time in Tofino this past weekend.  Wow...what a trip with Clayton and Kristina.   Started off with us leaving the office at 1pm to arrive in a massive car line up for the ferries to take us to Vancouver Island.  As we approach the line, the stupid ferrie guy tells us we will probably get on the 9 O'Clock ferrie!  it was 3:30!  So I figured the guy made a mistake and meant we may get on the 5 O'Clock but if not then the 7:00.  Nope.  What he meant was the 9:00 which was leaving at 10:30PM!!!  So yea...We got on the stupid ferrie at 10:30pm and got to tofino at around 3:30.  14 hours. grr.

So on Saturday we start calling around looking for a place where we can take some lessons and rent some gear.  "No places will be renting or giving lessons this weekend because of the large swell".  What the!  The entire reason for going to tofino and ruffing that 14hour trip was to surf.  So we try to make light of things and plan some other activities such as whale watching and kayaking.  We went to go check out the waves to see how crazy they were because Clayton or I had not seen the beach in Tofino before.  The waves weren't too bad and after taking some pictures (which turned out pretty crappy..check the galleries for some decent ones) we went to a local surf shop where tehy told us we could rent equipment for Sunday.

Luckily, we did rent gear on Sunday and it was amazing!  It was pouring rain and cold but nice and toasty in the wetsuit.  We had the full enchilada on.  Hood, Gloves and boots.  The quote of the day was "Where did all my bones go" compliments of Dane.  So the waves were pretty decent and the water was refreshing but boy was I ever tired after surfing.

We came back monday and the trip was a Huge success.  Special thanks to Xtina for planing the whole bumbaclot extravaganza and for driving.

    www.fuel.tv

The top action sports performances of the year will be honored at the inaugural Arby’s® Action Sports Awards presented by FUEL TV, airing nationally on FOX, Sunday, December 10. The ceremony will bring together the biggest names in skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, BMX, freestyle motocross and more along with dozens of celebrities from across the entertainment spectrum for one star-studded, high-flying show!

FMX star Travis Pastrana received four nominations following his double backflip performance at this summer’s X Games. Jamie Bestwick, one of the top BMX vert riders in the world, also received four nominations. Shaun White is up for three awards coming off his Olympic Gold Medal and Winter X Games Gold Medal snowboard runs. Lindsey Jacobellis contends for Female Snowboarder of the Year with fellow Olympians Hannah Teter and Gretchen Bleiler. The competition continues out of the water for surfers Andy and Bruce Irons, Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Sofia Mulanovich, Rochelle Ballard and Chelsea Georgeson, among other top pros.

“Being nominated for one award would be special, but four awards is truly unbelievable,” said Pastrana. “I’ve had just an amazing year and to be recognized by the industry is an honor.”

Winners will be determined by the combination of fan balloting and a panel of expert judges, then announced during taped ceremonies on November 30. FOX will air the show nationally on December 10, at 2:30 PM ET/PT or 4:30 PM ET/PT either preceding or following local NFL coverage that afternoon (check local listings). FUEL TV, the only 24/7 network dedicated to the lifestyle of action sports, is hosting online voting now for fans and viewers at www.fuel.tv.

"FOX Sports is happy to be working in conjunction with our brethren at FUEL to bring the Arby's Action Sports Awards to the entire country," said FOX Sports President Ed Goren. "Action sports are growing in popularity every year, and this show highlights the best of the best."

The Arby’s Action Sports Awards is produced by Future Mainstream Productions and the award-winning team of Bob Bain and Mike Burg, veterans of such events as the "Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards" and the "Teen Choice Awards." FUEL TV is supporting the event with its signature red carpet series "Blue Carpet Special," a special preview show premiering November 6, and will re-telecast the Arby’s Action Sports Awards throughout December.

"The growth and popularity of action sports is at an all-time high and it is time to honor such amazing feats as Shaun White’s Olympic Gold Medal and Travis Pastrana’s double backflip at the X Games," said Bain. "Not only do children aspire to be the next Pastrana or White, but the music and entertainment industries have a true affinity for these sports, so we look forward to putting together a memorable event for viewers."

Arby’s has signed on to be the presenting sponsor and other major sponsors include Jeep®, Activision and Nike. "Through this event, we’ve been able to create an unprecedented integrated marketing platform to reach the highly sought-after male 14-34 demo in the fourth quarter," said Burg. "For a creative and aggressive marketer, the opportunities to work with the show are endless"

"This was a fantastic opportunity for us to partner with a brand new awards program that recognizes young athletes for extraordinary talents," said Debra Mager, Senior Vice President of National Advertising, Arby’s Restaurant Group, Inc. "These kids take risks and excel at being different, which is something we at Arby’s have always prided ourselves on."

A panel of industry experts nominated the top athletes in 20 different categories. Many of the awards are sport and gender specific such as Skateboarder of the Year (male and female) and FMX Rider of the Year. Achievements that transcend the genre have been nominated in categories such as Rider of the Year, Huevos Grande and Performance of the Year.

soo... last night was the beginning of cornucopia... celebration of food and wine.

8:00 dinner and beers at the grill
    9:00 blackout drunk at earls
    11:00 arrive at garfs
11:02 take a shot in the backbar

life is pretty funny sometimes.  Whistler wants to have a reunion... it will only have been 5 years since my grad.  weird.

today it started to puke snow outside.  amazing.

Found this random website that explains great words... here are some examples:

                                                         GIRLS
                                                    are like apples
                                              on trees. The best ones
are at the top of the tree.
The boys don't wan't to reach
for the good ones because they
are afraid of falling and getting hurt.
Instead, they just get the rotten apples
from the ground that are not as good,
but easy. So the apples at the top think
that something is wrong with them, when
in reality, they're amazing. They just
have to wait for the right boy to
                                           come along, the one's who's
                                                     brave enough to
                                                           climb all
                                                           the way
                                                          to the top
                                                         of the tree.

I am the poor little apple waiting for the perfect guy to pick me
Be brave and reach for the top

What's up eh? Well, last weekend (July 8th and 9th) I went to Round 5 of the Canadian Motocross Nationals at my home town's track, Moto Valley. I brought the only friend who shares a passion for motocross with me, Carly. So we got there f-in' early on Saturday and watched ALL the practices haha. Yes, I know we're dedicated..and proud of it. Then, around 11a.m, we were stopped by this guy who asked us to be Trophy Girls. We were definitely down for it. So Sunday rolls around and we get there at 10a.m. sharp since we had to meet some guys who were going to tell us what to do. We walked to where we were supposed to meet, and they immediately start giving us all this free stuff. C.d.'s, stickers, autographed posters, shirts...it was sweet. Then they gave us these huge Royal Distributing shirts and told us to cut them up until they were "revealing". So we did that, and I think in the end, they turned out alright. I'll post a picture of us wearing them and standing with the sexy Dusty Klatt...yea baby. After that, we were pretty much treated like V.I.P. I felt like such a moto-slut haha. Between races we walked by all the tents, checking out everyone's bikes and whatnot. Well, once people knew we were trophy girls, things changed. One of the Suzuki riders hit on us for literally 10 minutes, and gave us Suzuki hats haha. He was hot..I enjoyed myself. Then some guy working with Kawasaki asked us to take a picture with his son (who motocrossed), and the kid wanted us to sign his jersey HAHA. The whole time I was thinking, "kid..we're nobody's, you're going to regret this". And then the Kawasaki guy was asking me about riding and I told him that next year if I do have enough money to ride, I'm going to be a privateer. And he was like, "ohh no, we'll hook you up and Kawasaki can sponsor you." I was like...sweet, too bad I hate Kawasakis because they're jap-crap. Then, for the FINAL race of the day, I got to go into the pits and take close ups of a bunch of the riders, and then I went on the track for the entire race and got some sick shots. The only downside of it is that all I have right now is a 55mm lens. Anyway, this is getting lengthy so I'll start talking about the end of the day. Carly and I left the guy who we worked with, Mark, our email addresses and phone numbers because they said they were going to hook us up with a bunch of Joe Boxer stuff. And they're sending us a dvd of the broadcast of us on stage (apparently it's going to be aired on 35 channels worldwide). After that, Mark took us around to meet a bunch of the racers. We met Roy, and Klatt (if you couldn't tell, I'm OBSESSED with him), and Mesley..which was Mark's racer. They were all sweet, especially Roy haha...he's awesome. Mesley invited me back to his hotel room hahaha. Then we left, and Mark called me a few hours later inviting us out for supper with a bunch of the mxers. Well, we went..and couldn't find the f*cking place because the East End of our city is f*cked up. I was so angry. Then Mark called me back later and I told him what happened, but by then they were heading to the bar, so we didn't bother driving across town again. But yeah, that was my amazing weekend. We started out as the only girls there who actually came to just watch motocross, and left as Trophy Girls haha. I never thought thats how it would turn out, but it was awesome. Anyways, I'll post pictures...check them out. Peace.

WHISTLER, Canada – July 1, 2006 – It may have been Canada Day, but it was the Aussies who ruled this year’s Red Bull Elevation in Whistler, BC. Corey Bohan of Brisbane, Australia took home the title, with fellow countryman Luke Parslow and defending champion Ryan Nyquist of the U.S. anchoring the podium, finishing second and third respectively.

Widely regarded as the world’s best BMX dirt-jumping competition, this year’s edition featured 40 of the top riders soaring over massive discipline-defining jumps. When the dust settled after Friday’s qualifying round, 20 riders had an opportunity to take home the title.

Ultimately it was Bohan, the first BMX dirt rider to win back-to-back X Games gold medals, who produced a killer combination of sublime technicality and huge tricks in his trademark style. The number one qualifier after Friday, Bohan delivered on his ranking’s promise in the event’s final run, hitting a downside whizzy over the hip, no-handed opposite 360, and an epic last jump featuring a one-handed table-top 360.

“To be on the podium with Nyquist and Parslow is amazing, I’ll ride with those guys all day, every day,” said Bohan. “I was a bit nervous on the way things were going, but pulled it together and I’m already looking forward to next year.”

Looking to repeat his stellar performance in 2005, Nyquist started with a solid run but fell on his second. His throw-away run spent, Nyquist finished strong, throwing down a solid 720 on his third run, and laying it all on the line on his fourth, delivering a combination of 360’s and a backflip one-handed X-up.

“People were laying it on the line and doing wild stuff, so I’m happy with any kind of podium finish. Compared to last year, the level of riding was way higher,” said Nyquist. “The setting was beautiful. It’s Canada Day and there were so many people out to watch. You really can’t have a better place to have a contest.”

Parslow delivered arguably the most impressive jumps of the day, including a combination featuring a back flip on the step down bar into a huge front flip. Dane Searls, also of Australia, emerged as one of the weekend’s stars by winning best trick, a double tail-whip over the big set of double jumps.

Added Searls: “I didn’t expect to win so I’m psyched. I knew what I wanted to do, I’m just glad I pulled it off. Best competition I’ve ridden so far. The biggest jumps, the best riders, everyone’s just so pumped to be here.”

Building on the success of last year’s Red Bull Elevation, BMX icon Jay Miron applied his decades of experience to create an even more challenging and immense course, answering the call of the world’s best riders to go bigger and continue being progressive. Jumps were larger across the board, with the most substantial an enormous 40-footer, and the third largest jump bigger than any in 2005.  In between, the course included every element of trail riding, from transfers to rhythm sections to showtime booters.

Ripping the course was the strongest field ever compiled for a dirt-jumping contest, an invitation-only list that also included last year’s best trick winner James Foster of America, World Dirt Jumping Champion Kye Forte of Great Britain, and perhaps the world’s best freestyle mountain biker, Darren Berrecloth of Parksville, BC.

The riders competed for a $30,000 prize purse, with Bohan taking home $10,000. All three podium finishers were awarded a custom trophy featuring an iron, dirt-loading Tonka Truck. A panel of veteran judges, including Ryan “Biz” Jordan, Matt Beringer, and Dave Osato evaluated riders on height, style, smoothness and tricks.

Cheering on the riders were 10,000 BMX and Canada-loving fans, with red-and-white flags dotting the Red Bull Elevation course and crowd.

The competition began with practice on Thursday, June 29, qualifying on Friday (reducing the field from 40 to 20 riders) and concluded with the finals on Saturday, July 1. For more information, pictures and video please visit our website at www.redbullelevation.com

The Life and Times of Joe: Summer eh?
    By: joe

So summer has fully and completely arrived now, and it's wicked. Sure I might bitch about how it's "so damn hot" but I bitched about the rain too, so apparently you can never make me happy unless it's puking snow all night then sunny the next day. I'm pretty sure the temperature here reached "surface of the sun"°C the other day. Actually it's pretty wicked, I've been mountain biking a ton, and we've reached new heights of Bocce ball radness (including water holes).

Speaking of biking, damn is it fun. I've got a Brodie Holeshot that is great, though I do wish at times I had a full suspension (I'm not so smooth and the dualies kinda cover for me), and I bought my Whistler Mountain bike park pass on friday. It's so amazing up there, the Garbanzo chair expansion means there is 3400 vertical feet of mountain biking to be had on dozens of trails. Some of them get pretty tricky, especially on a bike not built for the park (mine) and I found that out on friday. After having an amazing ride, including "Original Sin" and "In Deep" off of the Garbanzo chair, we decided to do "Schleyer" on the lower mountain. I tried to take a "not so hot" line on one of the rock faces and managed to endo over the handlebars and land on just about every part of my body, including my hip, both legs, shoulder, back, elbow and wrist. I was very lucky that I had borrowed a full face helmet from Fanatyk Co bike shop, because all I remember is my face and head sliding across the rocks. Thanks Jon! First time I've ever really knocked my head too, guess I got a mild concussion, that was interesting. Oh yeah, and on a sad note, I was a dumbass and took my cool nerd phone up the hill with me, and managed to smash it to pieces when I fell. D'oh. Ah well, I got back up there yesterday and it kicks ass. Back at 'er again this week.

    Have fun y'all!

The AG-HVX200 HD Camera-Recorder Puts a Host of Powerful Features in Your Hands
This handheld DVCPRO HD P2 camera-recorder is designed to meet emerging needs in HD content production. It debuts as Panasonic's first HD video product to use P2, the cutting-edge memory recording device that has the potential to revolutionize the entire production paradigm. The AG-HVX200 records HD, either 1080i or 720p video acquired by a new optical system and high-performance digital signal processor onto a P2 card using the broadcasting DVCPRO HD codec. This system achieves a level of image quality that conventional handheld HD cameras simply cannot match, while also supporting HD/SD multi-format and multi-codec recording capabilities. Variable frame rate recording is just one of the features that makes the AG-HVX200 unique in its class. Using technologies that make the Panasonic VariCam camera-recorder a favorite in movie production, this powerful function allows the overcranking and undercranking techniques used with film cameras to create fast-motion and slow-motion effects. The P2 card offers superior reliability, immediate playback and outstanding cost-performance. It allows direct connection to nonlinear editing systems and streamlines the production work flow, by providing to the editing system data files ready to be edited, rather than a video tape which would require the task of digitizing. On top of all its advanced features and technologies, the AG-HVX200 inherits the refined design and easy operation that distinguishes Panasonic's high-value DVX100 DV camera series. In the AG-HVX200, video professionals of all kinds will find a powerful tool for giving form to their creative visions.
